Sometimes, a relationship can never work. I mean, face it, it's just not meant to be. In Sarah's Key, Julia Armond's marriage with her husband was never going to work. First of all, she knew her husband for what, five minutes before they got married (not really). And then, he almost forced her to get an abortion! Good thing Julia finally stood up for herself. Woot Woot!
But seriously, We are entering one of the biggest social times if our lives. It seems that we meet new people everyday. A lot of people are searching for that special someone (wink wink). I feel like many people rush into that kind of thing, and plowing into relationships that are never going to work out. We should take the time to really get to know someone for their values, and not their looks. Then, we might actually have a chance with that person.
My parents knew each other in high school, having off again on again relationships. Growing up, I've thought about that kind thing. Who is out there, how will we meet, that kind of thing. But I haven't been thinking about the qualities I want that person to have! Important stuff, I'm tellin' ya!
Also, in middle school, and high school, and whatever, everyone is fallowing the newest, hippest trends. Since we are not acting like us, and showing of the lovely things that make us different., we attract people who like the qualities that we are sporting (the not-us ones) that they also have, so that pairing is just not right!
So, people, don't be afraid do be yourself, and get to know someone. Maybe start of as being friends first. (Oh my god, is that even possible?!?!?!)
And, my dear friends, don't be like Julia and her husband. (Probably ex-husband, but I haven't gotten to that part yet.)
Ta Ta loves!
