What We Do For Love!

Love. Who knew that such a small word could mean so much. So many people have many different opinions about love and what it really is.Personally, I have no idea what so ever what love means. At this stage in my life, I'm not particularly concerned about love, or finding that one special person. Seriously, we are in 8th grade. Does anyone actually think about love in that kind of way?? But, whether people do or not, love is still there. Walking around park slope and the park, and whatever, I see couples EVERYWHERE.
I actually find it very interesting to see how other people convey their love, or what they will do for the people they love, because in some cases, people take VERY drastic measures!

This week, I'm still tackling Youth in Revolt by C.D Payne. Besides the crazy shenanigans that Nick gets into, there is a lot of love in the air. I mean, Nick is chasing after Sheeni, Apruva is going out with Trent. Its basically your typical High School scene. Love is a huge part in these teenagers life, but for a few characters, one in particular, the sting if unrequited love is present. Nick is doing anything remotely possible to win Sheeni back, which unfortunately is coming to no avail. I mean, he applied to go to a school in India, which was a scheme for Sheeni to come home from boarding school. And now, he is dressing like a woman, and risking a whole lot, just so he could be with Sheeni without her shunning him! OH! I almost forgot one extremely important thing that Nick did for his "one and only love". Nick became a "rebel" just for Sheeni! That is actually what set the entire thing in motion!
But any way, that was the inspiration of this blog post. While reading about Nick chasing after Sheeni, I have begun to observe what people will do for love!

Kids our age (sorry Miss Robbins for speaking in 2nd person!!!!!) are kind of just starting to explore the meaning of love. And, coincidentally, like an issue greatly discussed in Romeo and Juliet, do we really know what love is? Does anyone know what love is? I think so many people have different interpretations on the subject that we can never really say. Some people think that when you meet the right person, you just...know, and you would do anything for that person. But in the times of middle school, I don' think that's the case.
Middle and High school are all about drama. Its always such hot news when two people are going out. You see those people holding hand, maybe kissing a bit, but as far as you know, that's it! At this stage, I kind of think all of us are just a bit melodramatic about relationships, because we have it in our head, this set idea of "love" and what we're supposed to do when we find it. But lets face it, and I know this is kind of a morbid question, but if you were going out with someone that you claim to love, would you die for them? I think this is the question that really defines what love is. Love is when you find someone that you absolutely can't live without. Kind of like in Romeo and Juliet (which also might have been some plain old teenage rashness).

When we think we love someone, we will do some pretty crazy stuff for them. Like Nick and his missions to win Sheeni's heart.
Maybe it's the things we do for a person, that really defines what love is.

Who knows?

Thoughts anyone? COMMENT
