In regards to my title, here is why I might break the rules..if there are even any rules in terms of writing from the heart ;-). This week's assignment was to write about seeing hope and change in your character. And, I will write about that, but I'm also going to drift a bit to something that has been on my mind.
"Throwing fits wasn't satisfying, I'd found out."
I really like this quote. I actually think it is one of the best quotes to describe the feeling of growing up. Lily as had a dramatic life, and she has always been expected to be as "adult" as possible. Once she got to the honey house, she was finally allowed to act like a child. But then once she found out about her mom, she realized that, with certain issues, we can't really act like a child any more. A lot pf things require us to act older than we really are, which can be good or bad, depending on how the person looks at it. I suppose it could only be really bad, if you convince your self that it is.
When I was younger, I was always told that I was mature for my age. I used to think that it was a good thing, but every so often, I would get tired of trying to be responsible, and worrying about every little thing. I still do that even today, and it's tiring! Recently, a friend of mine said, "this is my last year before high school, so I'm going to act as childish as I can over the summer!" I agree with this, rather a lot in fact! Not necessarily the part about acting really childish, but that it's our last year before high school, so we have to make it count! We are growing up, and thinking about it, our lives are going by incredibly fast. And, although it is always fun to not worry about things, and be care free for a little, there are certain part about being younger that we just have to move past, like throwing fits, and being just...childish..I guess :)
Now is the time where I might kind of drift off topic..but as Sam said in her most recent blog post, sometimes we have an idea in our heads that we just have to get down in writing.
This idea is going back to the day when we read "Training Bra"
"We are all genderless blobs, who pee standing up!" -Pia Wahlsten, Molly Smith, Isabelle Fernandez, and Annie Futterman.
This quote came a story of my youth, which I will share with you, but it's kind of embarrassing, so don't laugh!!
Okay, so, when I was younger, I was best friends with my neighbor Eli (we still are friends, and neighbors, just not as close as we were before). We used to play all the time in his back yard, and numerous times, we would have to pee while we were playing. Even though the bathroom was right inside, Eli, being a boy could just go to the corner of the yard and go to the bathroom, with out worrying about a thing. I can't exactly remember when, but eventually, I'd had enough of going inside. So, I decided that I would be just like Eli and pee standing up too! :-)
When I shared this story with my table that day (when we split up the room, gender wise), we all decided, that when we were younger, we didn't really have a gender. It isn't until we grow up and meet new people, that the ideas of gender, and how we are supposed to be, get planted in our heads.
So maybe we are all just genderless blobs.
Ah! I almost forgot! This is my last post of the year :'(. I would just like to say, that I've had an amazing time reading and writing blog posts! I will definitely miss this! <3 <3
