Julie and Julia

Molly Smith

I just started reading Julie and Julia today (10/13/10) and it immediately sucked me in! This book immediately made me think “good for you Julie!” Seriously, I find it amazing that someone who was in such a “shlump” found it in her heart to set a goal for herself. It’s great doing something that you love, but setting a challenge for yourself at the same time. I can kind of connect to that because I love reading soooo much, and my mom is always telling me to challenge myself. It is though, very unfortunate that no one seems to share the same feelings that Julie does. Her mother does not approve of Julie’s cooking challenge, but I don’t understand why. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with doing something that you absolutely love.
In a way, this book I think so far is about making the best of the situation that you are in. Kind of like in the Phantom Tollbooth. Life is about having fun and taking on new journeys. The fact is, is that there are always ways to make the situation better. By doing what you love, you can really see the beauty of life.
Reading this book, you can defiantly tell that Julie is proud of the choices she made. She did a whole lot of research, and basically living her life to the fullest, even though some people don’t think it’s what’s best. It really says something to you…I feel like a lot of things are opening up and becoming more clear, I guess. What I mean, is that you can make your own, definite choices so you can do what is best for you!

  1. Molly! It's Audrey, I'm so excited you're reading this book, I'm obsessed with the movie and the book remains a bed side book for me. I pick it up when I'm hungry but can't find any food. Can't wait to hear what you have to think of it.
